Okay, so about a week ago I reluctantly signed up to Hulu. I have a Netflix account and would have already have a Hulu account but as I understand it, they actually expect people to not only pay them money use their premium service but they still show you commercials. Sorry, but that’s offensive to me. However, I know they show current TV shows and I wanted to have access to it ASAP instead of sometimes having to wait a day or two for it show up elsewhere.
They had a 1 week free trial. I turn my Vizio TV on and suddenly it won’t connect to the wireless internet. I research it online and I see a lot of other have this problem but no one has offered an answer that works. So I called Vizio just a few moments ago and to my surprise they helped me and as it turns out the problem is fairly simple to fix.
Below are the simple steps they told me to use.
Step 1:
Turn of you Vizio TV and unplug it from the back.
Step 2:
Unplug your wireless router for 15 seconds and then plug it back in.
Step 3:
While the TV is still unplugged press and hold down the power button for 15 seconds. (The power button is usually the top button). Then plug it back in.
Step 4:
Turn the TV back on with the remote and click the menu button and choose the “Network” icon.
Step 5:
Select your wireless network and enter in your password. It should just take a few seconds for it to connect and you will know it’s connected by the icon to the connect icon to the left. (Note that icon could be in a different on different models.) I have two Vizio’s these photos are from the one in my office. The Vizio in the living room is a larger TV and different model but the same instructions worked for both TV’s.
Hope this helps. It would have saved me a phone call to Vizio and a weeks worth of procrastination before I called.
If it doesn’t work for you for some reason. Belew is Vizio’s support number. Just make sure to have either your TV’s Model Number or the Serial Number. The easiest way to find them is to click the “menu” button on your remote and click the help icon and then select the “System Info” option.

Thank you so much I have been dealing with this issue for a month and it has been stressing me out didn’t want to call technical support and thank gosh I found this thank you so much again it worked perfectly!!!
It showed as connected for a few seconds, then disappeared! But thanks for posting. I’ll try it one more time.
Awesome! Thanks so much!
OMG, Can’t believe it! Why don’t we think of doing the same things we do to a computer to fix a TV – mental block! Thank you!
that works for me, you are awesome, thank you
Not working for me. Bummer!
Thank you so much! This did the trick!
Didn’t work grr
Worked for a few seconds and then went back to the same problem. :<
Didn’t work here either – However this did:
On the Visio TV followed the instructions as though it were a “hidden” router (i.e. one not broadcasting its SSID) though it is not and the Visio reports finding it. Connection made right away 😉 !!!!
My TV and internet worked fine for months, then yesterday, the TV functions (power button did not work) locked up and it no longer responded to the remote. Then the TV began cycling on and off. After 8 hours of this going on in the background, I began the internet search. After a number of failed attempts, I found your article. I’ve done all the above except I added the TV’s factory reset as well and did not select the internet option. Control of the TV has been restored. Next step will be to connect to the wifi. Thanks, at least if it happens again, I will have an easy fix at hand to view cable at least.
Thank you thank you thank you it really worked I search the internet for about an hour before I came across this fix
Thank you it worked for us too!!!
