OMG! I Agreed With Something Glenn Beck Said…
Well, I hate to admit this but I actually with something Glenn Beck said and I’m not happy about it but when he’s right he’s right. However, the rest of what he said was of course the usual bat shit crazy right wing paranoia bullshit. But, he did bring up a good point that I have to agree with and I know I will be crucified by liberal brothers and sisters. So I ask of you. Please hear me out, and keep that open mind we pride ourselves on having.
Okay, the setting. Glenn Beck is on spewing his usual shit on FOX News and then he says this, “If I would have come home and there was a video of me sitting in that chair, my parents would have said to me, ‘What the hell were you even saying that brought that cop — why did somebody have to call a police officer in the first place on you?’ Beck said. ‘You obey the police officer, period.’”
He’s absolutely right with this point. My parents would have said the same thing. However, my parents would have gone ballistic if I was assaulted like this by the cops. But, there’s no denying there is an issue at hand here that is ignored all too often by the media. And, the simple fact is that in almost every single case of police brutality I have ever seen and it almost always starts with someone failing to comply with the lawful orders given by the police. Bad things are going to happen when you smart of to someone that has a gun and radio they can use to call more people with guns.
I have sat, jaw dropped, watching the complete disrespect shown to the police in almost all of these abuse videos I have see. Time after time I see people refusing to comply with the lawful orders of the police and it really pisses me off. I’m not gonna lie. It offends me terribly. However, what bothers me even more, is the complete and utter overreaction by these police officers. It’s one thing to maybe slam someone a little hard on the hood of the car. It’s quite another to beat the living shit out of them or kill them just because they mouthed off or dared to just drive away.
Yes, there have been times that cops have, with no apparent reason, assaulted someone. And, those truly sicken and disturb me. But, once again, this isn’t about that. This is about another person’s disrespect of a cop with the usual, “you can’t tell me what to do” attitude. We all have seen this time and time again. It is not racist to point this out. It needs to be talked about because it is a serious problem and it’s getting a lot of people beat and often killed by the police.
Yes, I absolutely agree that no one should be getting beat down and or killed by the police for simply arguing with them or for just disagreeing with them. Yes, these acts of police brutality are by far the bigger problem. And, I find it disturbing that the idiots at FOX News can’t seem to grasp this. No one should be beaten or killed for mouthing off to a cop. It has got to stop. And, I hate to say it but it has become abundantly clear that it’s a race issue. If it wasn’t a race issue, we would see just as many videos of the beating and killing white people. Yes, it happens. But, even the slowest of FOX News viewers have got to see these constant abuses as at least being worthy of investigating.
Today, the South Carolina Deputy, Ben Field was fired for his actions. Based only upon what I saw, I have to agree with this decision. There are levels that must be met before a cop can show a use of force. The very first step is verbal commands. I don’t know how long the cop attempted to get the girl to leave the class before he went straight to flipping her desk over and then flinging her from across the room. But, it doesn’t matter. You don’t go straight from verbal commends to ass kicking unless there is a serious threat of bodily harm to the officer or civilians. There didn’t appear to be any justification for the cops actions at all.
I know a little about this because I have the rare perspective of being on both sides of the law. I was cop and I have also, sadly, done time. I have the greatest respect for cops. I have never mouthed off to a cop and I have always treated them respect. Well, I may have thrown out a couple mildly humors and witty retorts while be under arrest. But, I know that most cops are truly good and decent people that do a job that just cannot be understood unless you’ve been there.
We also have to accept that cops are human and we have to stop expecting them to not be. You can’t always control the adrenaline that courses through your veins and it’s not right to expect any cop to go from 100 on the stress level to 0 at the drop of a hat. But, at the same time, we have got to do something about the level of abuse we are seeing from the police. This level of abusive behavior is simply not acceptable and should not be tolerated at all. No one should ever be seriously beaten or killed because because they mouthed off to a cop. Police departments have got to work on their use of force policies. The use of force we see should match the resistance and we’re just not seeing that in so many of these brutality cases.
In conclusion, yes I understand the frustration of the shallow and the ignorant FOX News mentality who think that if people would just comply with the lawful orders given by the police that most of the brutality cases and deaths would have never occurred. I too agree with that 100% but… What they don’t understand is that this is not the issue. They did mouth off, they did refuse lawful orders and though I believe the police should be allowed a little leeway here, by enlarge, the responses we are seeing by many cops is completely over the top and in most cases, positively criminal. It has got to stop and we all need to take a look at this from every angle. We need better and more effective training for our police officers. Because I don’t care how much a someone mouths off to a cop, it is never an excuse to beat the shit out of another human being. Never. And, anyone that says otherwise is so terribly shallow and morally wrong.

Futility of Google SEO and Bad Horror Movies…
I got my first real PC in 1998. Sure I had a Texas Instruments thing in the early 80’s but it wasn’t so much a PC as it was a keyboard that attached to a TV allowing me to write programs in Basic. This is not to say that I am an expert in when it comes SEO or even computers. I am however not a noob and have known enough to have made a living working online since the late 90’s. So when I talk about the futility of Google SEO I know a little of which I am speaking.
Of all the domains I have owned I have only one that I cannot get Google to rank favorably. I of course use their clusterfuck assortment of “Webmaster Tools” and I can honestly it’s gotten to the point that it’s become all fucking giberish to me now. I have talked to experts in the field and I have come to the conclusion that they are mostly all full of shit. It is impossible to know or even begin to understand the complexity of whatever in the fuck Google is doing with their “algorithms” and its all become quite absurd.
I don’t blame Google, I don’t blame them one bit. There are so many cheats in this world that they are always having to build a better mousetrap. It’s just that the “little guy” people like me have to suffer for it. I have spent a few months now trying to get this one site to rank well for one search term and nothing I have done has improved it’s ranking. I have even looked for a simple contact page for Google and it doesn’t seem to exist. Oh, I am sure it’s there but I can’t fucking find and I know how to surf and search a site.
What I can find is there is webmaster forum but I don’t like to be doing my business all out in public like that. Yes, the irony of me now ranting is in fact doing my business in public, it’s not lost on me. But, what I mean is that I want to talk to someone at Google that hopefully knows what in the hell they are doing. I don’t want to talk to a bunch of people on a forum and get the same answers I have already discovered on my own.
My site Bad Horror Movies is fun hobby for me. Though I kind of need to sell it as fast as possible. It would be nice if it ranked on Google in the top spot or at least on the first page. It doesn’t. At last I checked it was ranked 488 or maybe it was 388? That’s pretty much like not ranking at all. Bad Horror Movies is 3rd on most other search engines.
I have no clue why it won’t rank high when one does a search for “bad horror movies.” It would seam to me that if you actually have the domain for the search term and it’s an active domain with fresh, real hand written content that it would rank higher than the ridiculous crap that consists of most of the pages listed for that search term. But, nooooo! For whatever reason Google seems to hate Bad Horror Movies.
At first I thought I was doing something wrong and I went to Google’s Webmaster Tools to see if it could find something. Trying to figure that stuff out was like trying to learn speak Mandarin with a French accent. From what I could tell I couldn’t find anything in there that would cause this page to not have a favorable ranking.
The next logical step was that it had to be something I screwed up with the SEO plugin I was using? That doesn’t seem to be it. Maybe it was a plugin I had deactivated like the All In One SEO plugin I had been using. Doesn’t seem to be that either, I have since completely deleted that plugin as well as every other plugin that I am not using. Nothing has changed my rank in Google.
I design websites for a living and offer SEO help and I have always been successful at SEO. I try to keep with the insane changes and for the most part, I have found, keeping it simple has always worked well when it comes to SEO and the thousands and thousands of dollars I have seen people pay for help with it is usually a waste of money. They could hire someone like that will help them out honestly without resulting to any Black Hat crap. Anyways, when it come to this one site, Bad Horror Movies I just can’t get it to rank at all well in Google and it’s beyond frustrating that there’s no serious help for the little guy.
Maybe having Bad Horror Movies horror movies linked to on this site, that does rank well on Google will help it out. I sadly really, really need to sell the site. It’s an awesome domain name but having it rank well on Google is always a strong selling point. I hope this helps because it not ranking is going to cost me a lot of money that I just can’t afford to lose right now.
Anyways, if you actually read this rant, sorry. Sometimes you just can’t hold it in and just have to rant.

I Got Accused of Being a Hypocrite…
It’s true, I got accused of being a hypocrite the other day and, for a second, it stopped in my tracks. It’s important to do some self-reflection from time to time. And this person, though wrong, made a good point. Their question and my eventual response I think are worth sharing because we all should step back from time to time and ask ourselves the same question.
I was on a rant about constant barrage of republican fuckery. Two things they had done and said had set me off. First, the absolute bullshit of the attack on Planned Parenthood by republicans and more specifically the bullshit lies told by U.S. Representative Jason Chaffetz during his questioning of Planned Parenthood president Cecile Richards. The other thing I was on a rant about was the republican gun nuts after the tragic shooting at Umpqua Community College. Their hypocritical bullshit and stupidity is absolutely offensive.
It was a really good rant, I was nailing it! I was rightfully outraged by all the hypocrisy and obvious bullshit being told to the public by the conservative right. And, then I as a took a breath I was interrupted with a really good observation. This person said, “Look I agree with you but how do you know you’re not being as closed minded as the republicans you’re attacking?”
I asked what he meant by that because the things I was upset about were their complete denial and misrepresentation of the facts. Rep. Chaffetz was misleading the public with his questioning. He did in fact lie. This has nothing to do with a difference of opinion. It is fact, fact and opinion are two very different things, I was expressing my anger at the facts on both topics. However, he better clarified the question by explaining, “How do you know you’re facts are correct. How can you be so sure that what you know is actually the truth.” It was a very good point. And, it’s something I have actually addressed before in various rants on this very site and on Facebook.
Here’s the thing, before I go on a public rant I do something not a lot of people seem to do on both sides of the political spectrum, I fact check before I speak. I am not saying that I am without flaw. I am not perfect but when it comes to a public rant, I fact check. I don’t just spew bullshit. Yes, I offer up at times very strong and harsh opinions. But, they are always checked for facts. I do my very best to never lie or mislead in my rants. And, if I am made away that something I said was not true, I will correct it and I will admit it.
However, that doesn’t answer the question he posed. The real question is “How do I know what I am claiming to be ‘facts’ are indeed facts.” I trust in my facts because I verify the things I say. When fact checking, I verify my sources and then I verify those sources to the best of my ability. But, how do I know my sources are correct? What is it that I am doing different than say my crazy republican family friend George? The simple answer, I use multiple, varied sources.
It’s like this, in general, I watch all kinds of different news. I get my information on all kinds of things from multiple sources. For example, my friend, George has pretty much one source of news, FOX News. He has flat out said it’s the only news he watches. However, it’s not the only news he pays attention to. He follows every single bat shit crazy right wing page on Facebook. He constantly emails, anyone that will listen, with every bullshit conservative meme and opinion that finds. Sadly, every single one can be proven to be either misleading or flat out lies with a simple fact check. But, he refuses to do so. He’s convinced all media is criminally biased except for FOX News, they truly are fair and balanced in his opinion. If it’s not FOX News, it can’t be trusted. He actually believes this. And, that right there is what makes me different from George.
I know just about all media is biased. It’s almost impossible to observe something and convey that observation without inadvertently changing what was seen or heard. Sometimes in the case of FOX News, that information is willfully changed regardless of the facts to promote an agenda. Truth be dammed. And, when caught doing it, their fall back excuse is, “We’re not News, we’re pundits expressing opinions.” So, that makes it okay in their eyes to flat out lie.
Of course there are many other “News” outlets that are biased. MSNBC is one of them. Very liberal bias. But, there’s a difference between having a bias towards one view or another and actually manipulating the truth to make a point. I have yet to see MSNBC get caught in a lie that they failed to correct. Biased, yes, flat liars, no.
Continuing, I don’t just get my news from MSNBC. I watch and read from a variety of sources. Yes, I watch MSNBC, I also watch ABC News, CBS, Al Jazeera, BBC, legitimate science blogs, NASA, Psychology today, Astronomy (my favorite magazine subscription) and the list goes on and on. You cannot call yourself an informed person and trust only one news source and only one point of view. It takes many to get the full picture.
This is what separates me from a person like George. Add that to my own life experiences and I have pretty good built in bullshit detector. As I have said, this doesn’t mean that I don’t make mistakes. There isn’t anyone out there that doesn’t make mistakes. What separates me from people like George is that I make an honest attempt not to lie about the things I am saying in order to make a point.
I read and or watch all those above news sources and I still don’t know everything. You can’t know everything. What you can do, is try. This is what pisses me off when it comes to idiots like George. He makes no effort to learn. He is being told lies and misleading information and makes no attempt to fact check them and he thinks liberals are dumb.
How do I know he doesn’t fact check or do any research? He’s told me that he doesn’t. Years ago, when I still talked to him, he was emailing me daily with newfound conservative cult views. I started calling him out on it. I started pointing out the fact from fiction. He kept not responding to what I was saying in my responses. He would just come back at me with yet another question to which it became clear he was never going to read my actual response. I called him on that too,
I asked him, “Did you actually read the article you quoted to me to in your last email?” I asked him this because the actual article he was quoted, agreed with my point point of view and had he read it, he would have known that. I knew the article he quoted actually agreed with me, because I took time to read it. I also asked him, “Did you actually read my full response?” His answer to both were, “No.”
This is how can you tell if someone is full of shit or not. And, I don’t care if you’re a liberal or a conservative. You cannot trust your source if all you listen to is one news source that is told from one single ideological viewpoint. In fact, I can make my point with an image. At first glance, this image shows a girl with her hand between another girls legs.
Now imagine the media or some politician trying to make a point about about teen sex or wild teen parties. Something along those grounds and their evidence being this picture. If they flashed it up on the screen you’re going to think it’s a photo of a girl with her hand between another girls legs. You’re going to be shocked and you’re not going to have any reason to disbelieve the media source or politician.
But, if you actually, take a deeper look at the photo, it’s not what it appears to be. It’s an unintentional optical illusion. It’s all quite innocent, well the photo is innocent, what was said about it, was not. This is exactly what FOX News does so well. The are getting good people that usually aren’t very bright to begin with and making them, angry, frustrated and paranoid about a whole lot of things that really aren’t true at all.
I learned the hard way to check my facts. I never really became political online until those long email sessions with George. Reading all his bullshit and taking the time to read what he had to say, to look it up the articles he was quoting and then researching them myself made me realize there are some tragically blind and stupid people out there. So I started following some liberal sites. I am not democrat, I am not a liberal. But, right now, they are the only ones at least making an effort to better this world that we live in.
Right now, conservative care about two things, the unborn and making sure this country follows a set of Christian values and that terrifies me. This country came into existence because our ancestors wanted nothing to with the England’s government that was being controlled by Christian beliefs. I know my history, and as far back as you go, there has always been Christian fuckery from the Crusades to the Salem Witch Trials, you cannot trust a political entity that gets it’s morals from any religion.
But, I digress. My point is that thanks to republican fuckery I learned the necessity of gathering information through a variety of varied news sources and ideologies. But, it was actually through some liberal fuckery that I learned the importance of fact checking everything before I repost it. Yes, I said it, there is some liberal fuckery out there. Not the principals for which it is based upon, but sometimes, the propaganda used is every bit as full of shit as that of it’s opposing party.
I have found several liberal type memes that are completely full of shit when it comes to the facts they claim. I recall one instance, a liberal Facebook page had posted a meme with Pat Tillman on one side and George Bush Sr. on the other side. On the Bush side it quoted Bush as saying that atheists shouldn’t even be allowed to be U.S. citizens because their patriotism is in question. On the other side is Pat Tillman, a man who gave up his career in football to go fight in the war against terrorism after the attacks of 9/11. He was killed in action in Afghanistan. He died a war hero in service to his country.
The meme is very inflammatory. The problem is that there is no verifiable proof that what Papa Bush said had ever happened. I had reposted this meme on my Facebook page because I trusted the liberal source from which it came. Turns out, they didn’t fact check it either. It more than likely never happened. After researching the quote, it turns that the Bush administration absolutely denies that he ever said such a thing. Doesn’t mean he didn’t say it and I certainly will never trust the word of Bush, or Bush Jr. or Jeb but it gave me pause. How could he deny it? It wouldn’t be quoted if there wasn’t a record of him saying. So I kept looking.
Seems the quote was attributed to a liberal biased “journalist” who claims that Bush said it in crowd at a speech he had given. The problem with this is that no one else on the face of the planet backs this bloggers quote. It’s not in the transcripts, no other reporter heard it. Hundreds of people there, no one else heard it at all. Now, it doesn’t mean he didn’t say it. But, the overwhelming evidence suggests that he did not. And, if you’re going to make a point about something, you need hard evidence. If you don’t have it, keep your mouth shout and don’t muddy the waters. It’s that type of reporting that makes FOX News and those who follow them so frightening pathetic.
After posting that meme, I learned first hand that you have got to check your sources. Just because in ideology you agree with a source doesn’t mean they aren’t capable of presenting inaccurate facts. And, nothing makes you look more incompetent then making bold claims and then having the very side you’re fighting against be able to simply discredit you with actual facts. Sure the current republican party is going to try and discredit you with lies and bullshit regardless of the facts, that’s inevitable. However, what you cannot, ever, let happen is to have them actually be able to discredit you with the truth simply because you were too lazy to fact check something you let come out of your mouth.

Why I No Longer Debate FOX News Trolls…
There are many reasons why I no longer debate Fox News trolls. Several years ago when Obama was running for his first time I was pretty sure the democrats had blown their chance at winning back the presidency when they nominated Obama. I liked him, he sounded like a man of good and honest character. I knew Republicans were going to hate him for a ton of made up reasons. And to be honest, I just thought there was no way America was going to elect a black man as president. I mean we are talking about the US of A here, a country that re-elected Bush knowing full well, he was a complete idiot. A country where millions in the deep south still praise the Confederate flag. However, to my pleasant surprise, he won the election.
In the time prior to the presidential election I was having daily debates with an old family friend. He had fallen victim to the FOX News cult of stupidity. He was sending me the most racist bullshit and when I called him on it, he said I was overreacting, it was a joke, it wasn’t racist. For months and months I wasted hours daily responding to his emails. He would bombard me with the most ridiculous half-truths and lies. I countered all of them with facts and links to those facts. He almost never would respond to what I said. Instead, he’d just send along another question with a link to another crazy conservative blog or FOX News site. I would again drop what I was doing and take the time to factually respond to him. When he did take the time to reply to the information I sent him, it was always the same. “You’re getting that from the lame-stream media!” It didn’t matter if it was an official government document or not. No source could be trusted according to him unless it was from FOX News or some conservative blog.
At one point he sent something from one of the blogs he follows. I read it and I was stunned at the lies and misleading information it provided. Information that had been taken completely out of context. The shit this blog was saying blew me away. I mean it was bat shit crazy, cult type thinking. I get to the bottom of the blog page and in the footer section, I see the problem. The blog is run by a nutbag Christian that is selling books talking about how man and dinosaur walked the earth together.
The back and forth emailing went on for months and I eventually and I jokingly called him a crack baby. He took it serious and I apologized to him but he refused to accept it as I understand it. And, in some ways, I’m glad he did. I had asked him repeatedly to stop emailing me his ridiculous propaganda. I was getting at least two or three emails a day with his crazy bullshit. Once he got butt-hurt the silence was amazing! It felt so good. His lack of bullshittery in my inbox was like breathing in fresh air.
Over the years since then, I have seen the economy strengthen, and an end to the war in Iraq and Afghanistan. My broke ass now has health insurance that has since saved my life. I have seen marriage equality become a reality and I have seen the capture and killing of Osama. And, through all these world changing positive things, I have watched the republican party do nothing but tell their party that it’s all been a bad thing. That the economy isn’t really any better. That the U.S. is worse off now than it was when Bush was in office. It’s insane.
The republican party is deluding it’s followers with lies and half-truths. It has become a party of severe paranoia and hate. The republican party has gotten its members convinced that everything is liberal conspiracy and sadly, these people are just too stupid to see it. And, the reason why? Because hate and fear, sell. When you convince people to only trust certain media sources because all the other have an agenda, you’ve got them. You have got to watch multiple sources of news to even begin to see other points of views and get a “fair and balanced” view of what’s happening in the world.
The republican party is deluding it’s party members with lies and half-truths.
For example, I have seen friends and others on social media talk about the rest of the world laughing at president Obama. I’ve flat out asked these people if they have friends in other countries. The response is always the same, “Nope.” And yet, they think this is the case because that’s what their news tells them to think. I work with people from all over the world. I have not met one of them that is laughing at Obama. Every single one of them agrees that Obama is doing a much better job than Bush had done.
I have spent hours and hours debating these kinds of conservative idiots on Facebook and you can’t win. You just can’t win an argument with these people because they refuse to listen. Their minds are made up. I have seen it over and over again. The delusion is always the same. They have become so stupid and reliant upon what their “news” sources are telling them that they no longer understand the difference between fact and opinion. When fox news throws out it’s right wing opinions under the guise of “News” they take it as fact. When you take the time to provide these people with facts, they refuse to believe it. There response is always, “I don’t believe your facts.” I always say, “They’re not ‘my facts’ and these aren’t my opinions They are simply the facts.” But, they don’t get that. It’s like they just have turned into mindless zombies and it’s really, really frustrating.
The family friend I mentioned earlier. He’s actually more of a friend to my parents. They know he’s a dumbass when it comes to politics. They just don’t like confrontation so they don’t say it. My father isn’t really into politics at all, but is very much into science and math. He has been debating with this friend on climate change. My dad who has read several books on the subject from varying points of views has concluded that climate change is real based on the available evidence that he has seen. My dad, when it comes to science and math is one of the smartest people I know. Even my dad has asked this friend to stop emailing him on the subject of climate change.
The reason my dad gave up on trying to explain global warming to him is because he refuses to listen. This family friend is doing the same thing to my dad that he did to me years ago. He’s spamming my dad with crap all day long asking him to explain this or that. My dad has spent hours trying to explain to him the science behind it all. He won’t listen, he ignores every single one of my dad’s responses.
What finally made my dad give up on trying to explain it to him was when this friend sent a link to an article that was saying global warming is a lie. My dad once again, went to the site or friend linked to him to, read the article and then responded with the facts, links to the facts and so on. Later that day the friend sent back another email with something else just as stupid as his last email. My dad asked him two questions. First, “Did you actually read the article that you sent for me to read?” and “Did you read my response and the links that I sent you in response?” Our friends response was, “No.” That was it for my dad.
This is exactly why I have stopped trying to talk to these types of idiots. These are people that have already made up their minds. They are simply too stupid to understand the difference between an opinion and a fact. And, you just can’t argue with or debate people that refuse to even listen to anything that doesn’t agree with the opinions they have already formed.
The problem is that the Republican party learned that you can cherry pick the facts and weave your own version of them to the public. And, once you have their trust, the rest is easy. I am not saying the democrats aren’t guilty of doing the same at times. What I am saying is that right now, the democrats haven’t taken up residency in crazy town, sure some democrats and liberals have moved there but not the hole party. Their overall message is one of equality, peace and truth. The Republican party has stopped in crazy town and taken up residency there. They party has been overrun with these Tea Party idiots. It didn’t used to be that way, I know, I used to be a republican. Not any more. I realized that their overall message was one of fear and hate they wrap up in a cute little bow and sell it to the public as patriotism.
